Corn Gluten

A 100% natural way to limit weeds

Corn gluten is a natural protein-based powder primarily used as a nitrogen-rich fertilizer for lawns while also acting as a natural germination inhibitor.

It helps prevent the emergence of certain weeds by interfering with root development after seeds germinate. It is particularly useful in reducing the appearance of common weeds such as crabgrass, dandelions, and other weed seeds present in the soil.

In addition to its weed-prevention properties, corn gluten also works as a natural fertilizer thanks to its slow-release nitrogen content. This nitrogen feeds the lawn gradually for two to three months, helping promote a dense, green, and healthy lawn.

When used as part of a regular lawn care program, corn gluten helps create a thicker turf that naturally leaves less room for weeds to grow.

Application Tips

  • Apply in early spring (mid-April to mid-May).
  • A second application can be made in late summer or early fall (late August to late September).
  • For best results, apply the product on a dry lawn, then water lightly after application to activate the product.
  • Corn gluten does not eliminate existing weeds; it works mainly as a preventive treatment.
  • Wait about 30 days after application before seeding grass.
